About The Position

Under the direction of the Building Administrator and Special Education Teacher, the Paraeducator will assist with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Paraeducators assist students with the unique needs outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP). This vital role involves providing direct support to students, helping them access their education through academic support, behavior management, and fostering independence. While you may work one-on-one with a student or within small groups, it is important to note that assignments are not fixed to specific students. Staff members are assigned based on current needs and teacher discretion, which allows us to adapt and reassign support to maximize effectiveness for all students. This position requires effective collaboration with other staff to implement necessary accommodations and strategies that promote student success. Specific responsibilities for this position are described on the attached job description. The Resource Room hours (3.0 hrs/day) of this position are temporary for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.

Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Have received a score of 455 on the ETS ParaPro or a qualifying score on the Pearson Paraprofessional assessment.
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
  • Complete the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS)-Paraeducator Certificate upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with individualized and small group instruction for students with physical or behavioral needs.
  • Provide direct support to students to help them access their education.
  • Implement necessary accommodations and strategies that promote student success.
  • Supervise students during recess and/or lunch.
