About The Position

The Paraeducator position at Cheshire High School involves working individually or with small groups of students under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and/or General Education Teacher. The primary responsibility of the Paraeducator is to assist students according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP). This includes reinforcing material presented by the teacher, preparing educational materials, implementing behavior plans, assisting with technology, and potentially helping with self-care tasks. The candidate must be capable of assisting in lifting a maximum of 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Two years of higher education preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist students according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Reinforce material presented by the teacher
• Prepare educational materials
• Implement behavior plans
• Assist with technology
• Assist with self-care tasks as needed
• Work under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and/or General Education Teacher

Benefits

• Salary of $16.35 per hour
• In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and CSEA/SEIU Local 2001/760
