About The Position

The Paraeducator 1:1 position at Mountain View Elementary School involves assisting in small group and individual pupil instruction under the direction of the special education teacher. The role includes maintaining discipline, supporting instructional activities, and supervising students during recess and lunch. The paraeducator will work with both special education and regular students, assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and perform various administrative tasks such as copying materials and preparing paperwork. The position may also require supporting students with toileting needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students from room to room.
• Toileting students is sometimes required.
• Involves work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
• Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
• Assist students with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
• Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
• May require supporting with toileting of students.
• PMT required.
