About The Position

The position of Paraprofessional I involves providing paraprofessional and support services under the general direction of the Building Administrator. Responsibilities include classroom instruction support, library support, clerical support, student bus safety, and assistance with various programs such as McKinney Vento and truancy. The role requires working with students from diverse backgrounds and includes monitoring student activities, maintaining classroom discipline, and assisting in various school functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED).
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter hours) or an associate's degree (or higher).
• Six months experience working with children or young adults.
• Ability to accurately and proficiently keyboard and utilize standard office software programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and maintain established time schedules.
• Background check and fingerprinting.
• First aid and CPR certification for employees assigned to the health room and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student activities after lessons and instructions have been given by the teacher.
• Administer and monitor tests and other assessment instruments as assigned.
• Maintain classroom discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Produce teaching aids and other classroom materials as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise the library in the absence of the librarian.
• Prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, and various forms and materials.
• Assist students with personal needs and equipment on and off the bus.
• Provide daily direction to student assistants and district volunteers.
• Monitor student activity in the In-School Suspension Center.
• Prepare correspondence and reports.
