About The Position
The Para Professional position at Kanab Elementary School is a part-time role designed to support students in grades K-6, particularly in reading and math interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and will be responsible for implementing behavioral and instructional strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of these students. This role requires a proactive individual who can create and monitor a daily schedule, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to succeed academically. In this position, the Para Professional will be tasked with creating lessons for small group instruction, testing and monitoring students' reading and math skills, and interpreting data to inform instructional practices. The role also involves providing instructional support as directed by general education teachers, assisting with curriculum modifications, and using positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior. The Para Professional will model effective instructional and behavior management techniques, implement assigned behavioral interventions, and collect data on student behavior to facilitate program adjustments. Additional training in reading and math will be provided, and participation in further support and behavior training may lead to higher compensation. The Para Professional will also be responsible for reporting any changes in student behavior to the Case Manager and completing incident reports as necessary. This position is crucial in fostering a supportive learning environment for all students, particularly those requiring additional assistance.
