About The Position
The Para-Pro Ex Ed One to One position is designed to provide essential support to the instructional program, specifically aimed at assisting a student with special needs within both general and special education settings. This role is critical in ensuring that the student receives the necessary supervision, care, and instruction tailored to their unique requirements. The paraprofessional will work closely with certified teachers and administrators to implement educational plans, monitor student progress, and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. In this position, the paraprofessional acts as a mandated reporter, ensuring the safety and well-being of the student. Responsibilities include adapting classroom activities and materials under the guidance of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce educational objectives and meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. The paraprofessional may also administer tests and assist with homework and make-up work to cater to the student's academic needs. Personal care is a significant aspect of this role, which may involve feeding, diapering, and assisting students with mobility, including lifting them to changing tables or helping them use the restroom. The paraprofessional will monitor and record behavioral and academic data as directed by the certified teacher, providing valuable insights into the student's progress. Additionally, the paraprofessional will facilitate social interactions among students, promote independence, and engage with students during various school activities such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch. Participation in professional development opportunities is encouraged to enhance skills related to special populations, including training in restraint procedures and social-emotional learning best practices. Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and effective communication with all stakeholders is paramount in this role.
