Position Summary The Classroom Paraprofessional at Spero Elementary plays an essential role in supporting high-quality instruction and a positive school culture. Working under the direction of the classroom teacher and school leadership, the paraprofessional assists with instructional support, classroom management, and student engagement to ensure students can fully access learning. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, and student-centered. They thrive in a structured, high-expectations environment and enjoy working collaboratively with teachers and staff to help students succeed.

• Comfort working in a structured, fast-paced school environment
• Must meet Oklahoma paraprofessional requirements (Tier 1 Credentialing through OSDE), including one of the following: Associate’s degree or higher, or 48 college credit hours, or Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (455+) or WorkKeys Test (Bronze+)
• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school staff

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by assisting the teacher with small groups, individual students, and classroom activities
• Help reinforce lessons and practice skills in literacy, math, and other subject areas
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and instructional resources
• Monitor and support student behavior, helping maintain a structured and positive classroom environment
• Provide additional support to students who may need help staying engaged, organized, or on task
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other school activities as needed
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student growth and classroom routines
• Uphold and contribute to Spero’s mission-driven, team-oriented culture
