About The Position

The Para Educator - Basic Education position involves working one-on-one with a student under the direction and supervision of certificated staff. Responsibilities include monitoring and supervising students on campus, assisting with instruction, providing one-on-one tutoring, managing classroom organization, and supporting activities in computer labs, libraries, or media centers. The role requires a desire and ability to work with students, and placements may change based on district needs. The position is scheduled for 6.50 hours per day, four days a week, and 5.5 hours on Fridays, through February 12, 2025.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One of the following: Associate's degree or higher, 72 quarter college credits at 100+ level from an accredited college, or a passing score of 461 on the ETS Paraprofessional Exam.
• Current First Aid/CPR card or willingness to become certified within 60 days of employment.
• Willingness to become trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with school-aged children.
• Ability to manage student behaviors in a non-escalating, positive manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist with parental involvement activities under the supervision of the teacher.
