About The Position

Paper Mill Shift Supervisor Sofidel America, a global leader in the production of tissue products for domestic and hygienic use, is committed to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. We are currently seeking a Paper Mill Shift Supervisor to lead shift operations in our paper production department. This role is responsible for overseeing paper mill personnel, managing production efficiency, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintaining equipment performance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and a hands-on approach to team development and operational success.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a paper mill or related industrial manufacturing environment
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or team lead experience, preferably in a union or shift-based operation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of pulp and paper production processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Familiarity with quality control systems and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to noise, heat, and industrial equipment
  • Regular standing, walking, and climbing required
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with maintenance systems such as JD Edwards is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise paper mill operations during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production
  • Lead and develop team members, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct daily safety talks and enforce safety protocols including PPE compliance, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and chemical handling procedures
  • Monitor production schedules and coordinate resources to meet or exceed shift targets
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain product quality
  • Ensure proper documentation of production data, incidents, and equipment maintenance activities
  • Maintain effective communication between shifts and with other departments including maintenance, quality, and logistics
  • Address staffing needs, support employee training, and participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as necessary
