About The Position

The position involves assisting the machine tender to ensure the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the paper mill. The role requires identifying and resolving operating and equipment issues while adhering to established policies. The employee is expected to support Sofidel's Employee Personal Practice Policy continuously.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Nice To Haves

  • Lift certification.
  • Overhead crane training.

Responsibilities

  • Support Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.
  • Work from written and verbal instructions as well as production schedule.
  • Oversee the Dry End function of the paper machine, focusing on the Yankee Dryer, Yankee coating, Calendar, and Reel section.
  • Conduct prescribed tests to ensure the quality of products and document test results.
  • Prepare the roll for removal from the mill and coordinate with crew to direct rolls from paper machine to rewinder or jumbo roll storage.
  • Coordinate with the machine tender to perform service functions on the machine.
  • Monitor computer display of machine functioning and back up the machine tender as needed.
  • Perform first level maintenance on the machine as necessary.
  • Operate clamp truck to move and process paper rolls when rolls leave the mill.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Learn and receive qualification for the next job in line of progression on the machine.
  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities and communicate issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
