This position is part of a multidisciplinary team that aids individuals in the outpatient behavioral health setting who need reduced costs or no cost medications. This position is under the supervision of the clinic nursing supervisor and Director of Nursing. The PAP specialist will guide the individual in completing PAP applications for submission to the pharmaceutical company for each of their prescribed medications which have a qualifying program. All applications require extensive follow-up to track applications through the process to final decision by the manufacturer. The PAP specialist will have to be comfortable with utilizing multiple software systems to track applications, reorder medications and establish re-enrollment applications. A key component to success in this role is superior task organization and an ability to effectively schedule appointments as needed to complete the application process. Chart audit experience, insurance verification experience and a working knowledge of antipsychotics, antidepressants, psychotropic agents, mood stabilizers and anticonvulsants are very important for analyzing PAP application set up options. PAP specialist will also support the medical and nursing teams with client vital signs and clinical flow as needed and staffing patterns dictate. Other duties as assigned.
