  • Produce complete, accurate shop drawings and layout plans for manufacturing and construction teams.
  • Analyze load requirements, building codes, and structural specifications to ensure compliant designs.
  • Review architectural and structural plans, identifying discrepancies, omissions, or inconsistencies.
  • Work closely with engineers to validate structural integrity and meet code requirements.
  • Make design adjustments based on engineering feedback, customer needs, and field conditions.
  • Communicate with contractors, builders, architects, and internal sales teams to clarify design requirements.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations for construction feasibility and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Revise designs based on customer changes, site conditions, and production constraints.
  • Prepare material lists, cut sheets, and manufacturing details for production teams.
  • Coordinate with plant supervisors to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot design-related problems during manufacturing or jobsite installation.
  • High school diploma required; associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering, or construction preferred.
  • 1–3+ years of design experience in trusses, panels, or related structural components preferred.
  • Experience using truss design software (MiTek, Alpine, Simpson, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of structural load paths, framing practices, and building codes (IBC, IRC).
  • Proficiency with CAD or BIM tools; ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong math, geometry, and spatial visualization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
