Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in sensitive situations.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered, truly listening to understand patient and family needs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing patient conditions and provide personalized care.
  • Resilient and emotionally stable, with strong self-care practices.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or a related field like ICU, geriatrics, or oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Symptom Management: Palliative care nurses are experts in managing pain, nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath, and other symptoms associated with serious illnesses.
  • Develop and implement care plans, and medication management to alleviate discomfort
  • Care coordination and education: Palliative care nurses coordinate care among various healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive the necessary support and treatment.
  • They educate patients and families about their illness, treatment options, and what to expect as the illness progresses.
