About The Position

The Saw Operator/Saw Trim is responsible for operating industrial saws to cut and trim pallet components to exact specifications while maintaining high levels of accuracy, consistency, and safety. This role performs a variety of assembly-line production tasks, including sorting and stacking cut materials, adjusting saw settings for optimal performance, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The Saw Operator plays an essential role in meeting daily production goals and maintaining quality standards for pallet manufacturing and repair.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in pallet repair, woodworking, construction, or similar roles preferred
  • Knowledge of operating multiple types of saws, including proper use and basic maintenance (preferred)
  • Ability to work safely with high-powered saws in a fast-paced, production-line environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect defects or irregularities
  • Ability to meet daily production goals and deadlines
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Any combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs or more repeatedly
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and handling of materials
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, physically demanding production environment

Responsibilities

  • Operating one or multiple saw types to cut or trim wood to required dimensions
  • Performing cuts with precision by adjusting cutting methods, saw blades, speed, and tension
  • Inspecting and measuring pallet components to ensure cut accuracy
  • Meeting or exceeding established daily production targets
  • Performing basic upkeep and maintenance to ensure saws and equipment operate safely and effectively
  • Sorting, stacking, and staging cut materials in designated areas
  • Identifying and understanding types and grades of pallets
  • Operating and maintaining various hand tools, power tools, saws, and production equipment
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area to minimize hazards
  • Escalating mechanical, safety, or process issues to leadership in a timely manner
  • Collaborating with facility staff to support efficient workflow
  • Performing other duties as assigned
