About The Position

As a Pallet Repair Reman (Viking Machine Operator), you will operate our automated pallet building machinery. You'll ensure the safe and efficient running of production on this machine during your shift. The goal is to build quality pallets with used and/or new wood parts in an efficient and timely manner.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED required
• 1-2 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment
• Observance of all safety rules and regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardized requirements exist
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Demonstrated experience safely operating air-driven, electric, pneumatic, and manual woodworking tools
• Requires quick hands, attention to detail, commitment to quality

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred
• Previous experience in welding, lumbering, construction, carpentry, or roofing is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Set up Machines to start a production cycle and clean work area when shift is over
• Utilize appropriate tools and methods to return damaged pallets to service-ready condition
• Communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Assistant Plant Manager, and Plant Manager
• Examine products after repairing to verify conformance to quality standards
• Must maintain a clean & safe working environment that meets 48forty’s standards
• Build the given number of pallets, once training is complete
• Repair the given number of pallets, once training is complete
• Expected to be able to work without constant supervision to achieve production quotas in the repair area, safely
• Stack pallets or materials in the correct manner, following inventory control instructions
• Check loads to make sure they are secure
