About The Position

The Pallet Jack/Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting materials and product using a Pallet Jack or Fork Lift truck. Unloads deliveries of raw materials, provides an initial inspection of product for quality and fit for use in product. Retrieves pallets of finished product and transports to the Freezer. Examines finished products to verify conformance to quality standards according to vendor specifications. Delivers raw material to production area for use. QualificationsPHYSCIAL DEMANDS/SAFETY: The physical demands/safety requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, items in excess of 50lbs, will require a team lift Must have the communication skills to communicate with other departments using a radio Must be physically able to withstand the temperatures ranging from -10° to approx. 40° Wear proper PPE: Freezer Gear when in the shipping area Hard hat Hairnet/beard net Steel-toe/composite-toe footwear that has a slip resistant surface. No jewelry is allowed in production/shipping areas. Complete Pre-use Inspection form, removing any unsafe equipment from operation and report issues immediately to Supervisor.

Requirements

• Will require the ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day
• Physically withstand temperature variances ranging from -10° to approx. 40°
• Must be able to safely and effectively operate the Pallet Jack/Forklift
• Required to pass an on-site eye exam annually using corrective lenses if needed
• Required to view training videos and successfully pass the associated tests
• Must have the ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, items in excess of 50lbs, will require a team lift
• Must have the communication skills to communicate with other departments using a radio

• Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to operate Powered Industrial Equipment in all conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions
• Must have the ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as stated above.

Responsibilities

• Under direction of the Shipping Supervisor, is responsible for transporting materials and product using a Pallet Jack or Fork Lift truck.
• Must maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent damage to company property and/or injury to self and others.
• Must maintain Pallet Jack/ Forklift license and operate PIE in a safe manner.
• Punctuality and Adherence to all safety policies, general manufacturing policies, and food safety guidelines are a requirement of the position.
• Completion of assigned tasks in a safe and timely fashion is expected.
• Must be able to complete tasks without constant supervision.
