Here at SGHS, a painter applies coats of paint, varnish, stains enamels lacquer to decorate interior and exterior trimmings and fixtures of the hospital using paintbrushes, rollers, scrapers and other tools of the trade. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and National Patient Safety standards.

Requirements

• High School or equivalent, trade or vocational school preferred
• 3 years as a painter preferred

Responsibilities

• Smooths surfaces using sand paper, wire brushes, and other tools of the trade.
• Removes old paint from surfaces using the tools of the trade.
• Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty plaster or other filler.
• Selects premixed paints and prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning substances.
• Simulates wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects.
• Creates special effects by applying paint.
• Places cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
• May perform all of the following: Cut stencils, paint signs, minor sheetrock work, minor wall paper work, hang pictures, hang signs, hang doors.
• Installation and removal of wall protection systems such as wallpaper and vinyl coverings
• Performs all duties as assigned.
