This position is responsible for painting and sandblasting heavy equipment, oil field pump skids, generator packages, and related equipment in a shop environment. The role involves performing painting preparation, operating painting or coating tools, straightening body panels, filling small dents, filing, grinding, sanding, and smoothing surfaces. It also includes sanding or sandblasting areas to be painted, masking for protection, and priming and painting repaired surfaces with care and detail according to manufacturer standards. The painter is expected to maintain the paint booth and painting equipment, perform light mechanical work to replace parts, remove and apply equipment decals, and conduct final checks on assembly and installation. Additional responsibilities include controlling labor costs, completing necessary paperwork for invoicing, maintaining company property and resources, completing special projects as requested by the department supervisor, and managing daily/monthly usage or material consumption reports for EPA/OSHA compliance, including MSDS information. The role requires appropriate disposal of hazardous waste, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, working overtime as needed, updating job knowledge, and adhering to all safety policies and company procedures. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
