About The Position

Steelworks LLC is a single-source steel fabricator and construction firm providing a full range of design, engineering, and fabrication. The company operates with AISC standards in fabrication and boasts complete in-house capabilities, including sophisticated robotic equipment, in-house detailing, blasting, and painting, which encompasses finish coatings. The Structural Steel Painter position involves loading and unloading bucks in the paint booth, preparing the steel by removing all debris according to the required application, and applying paint as per the specifications on the drawings. The painter is also responsible for visually inspecting for missed or poor quality welds and verifying the proper amount of paint applied using a wet paint mill gage.

Requirements

• Prior five (3) years Structural Steel Painting experience
• Ability to operate multiple forklift types – Sit down, Combi-Lift
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
• Able to identify various types and sizes of materials
• Able to listen and prioritize several projects at once
• Must be proficient with an overhead crane
• Team Player with solid communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret mill thickness gage

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading the bucks in the paint booth
• Prep the steel and remove all debris per the required application
• Apply the paint per the specs listed on the drawings
• Visually look for missed welds and or welds with poor quality
• Use a wet paint mill gage and verify the proper amount of paint has been applied
• Observe company safety policy while working
