About The Position

The Painter maintains and repairs painted, wall covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structure, furniture and equipment throughout the site in order to project a neat and well maintained appearance. Takes directions given by the Lead Painter. May require some weekends, late nights, and early mornings. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Training and/or experience of at least 1 year that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position
Must be reliable and responsible
Excellent communication and team-building skills
Ability to work outside in weather extremes including high temperatures during a Texas summer
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling
Ability to push and pull objects of materials weighing up to 100 lbs
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with the ability to reach, often times overhead
Ability to grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, occasionally waist high

Responsibilities

Prepare and paint surfaces of building structure, furniture, and equipment using proper application techniques
Use various products and possess visual ability to identify colors and patterns, measure lengths and quantities and assess areas for repair
Plaster and/or spackle surfaces
Ability to differentiate between colors
Mix paint colors to match existing colors and apply paint to all buildings and equipment surfaces with brushed, rollers and spray guns
Climb ladders, scaffolds, or use a lift to reach heights up to 30 feet
Work in tight spaces and awkward positions
Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the facility
Prepare and maintain wood surfaces requiring staining, varnish and lacquering
Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
