About The Position

If so, The Pfister Hotel is seeking a Painter to support daily engineering operations and uphold our iconic Four Diamond standards. As a Painter at The Pfister Hotel, you will be responsible for performing skilled painting, finishing, and preventative maintenance work throughout the property. This role supports both guest-facing and back-of-house areas while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hotel standards, OSHA regulations, and trade best practices. Built in 1893, The Pfister Hotel has been a Milwaukee icon for nearly 130 years and has maintained AAA Four Diamond status for more than four decades.

Requirements

  • Previous professional painting experience required; hospitality, commercial, or institutional environment preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to meet all requirements of the Painters Union Local 781 Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • CPR, OSHA 10, scaffold training, or related safety certifications required or obtained per Local 781 guidelines
  • Ability to read and interpret MSDS/SDS sheets and safety documentation
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates
  • Professional, well-groomed, and reliable demeanor
  • Ability to use and understand hand and power tools safely
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, lift, grasp, twist, and stretch
  • Flexibility to adjust schedules or shifts as business demands require

Responsibilities

  • Perform interior and exterior painting, finishing, and surface preparation throughout the hotel
  • Maintain building structure, fixtures, furnishings, and FF&E in a state of good repair
  • Complete preventative maintenance and repair work as assigned by the Chief Engineer or Lead Painter
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest and associate maintenance requests
  • Document daily work, service calls, and completed projects in Engineering logs
  • Follow all OSHA safety and hazard communication standards at all times
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable trade practices and collective bargaining agreements
  • Assist with cost control initiatives related to materials, supplies, and operational efficiencies
  • Perform basic maintenance support across multiple trades as permitted by training and union guidelines
  • Utilize and maintain hand tools, power tools, and painting equipment safely and effectively
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and storage spaces
  • Attend required Engineering Department meetings and trainings
  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding improved methods, materials, or procedures
  • Represent The Pfister Hotel with professionalism, courtesy, and respect at all times
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by Engineering Management
