About The Position

Perpetual Machine is currently hiring a painter who is responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, mixing paints, applying paint and inspecting finished work to ensure quality and safety standards are met while maintaining and cleaning painting equipment and tools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Employee must pass a fitness for duty test, drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical. Reading blueprints and drawings to understand the painting requirements to paint industrial machinery (structural steel frameworks, rollers, guards, etc). Preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding and applying primers. Selecting and mixing appropriate paints and other coatings according to specifications. Applying paints and other coatings using a variety of tools, such as sprayers, brushes and rollers. Setting up and maintaining painting equipment. Properly clean and store painting equipment. Ensuring that painted surfaces meet quality standards and that paint application is uniform and free of bubbles, debris and runs. Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Inspecting final product for any inconsistencies or defects. Performing minor repair work on surfaces to be painted. Operate a lift truck to move machinery in and out of paint booth. Documenting completed work and maintaining records of materials used. Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix, thin and apply them to industrial equipment
Solid knowledge of commercial painting techniques
Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, sprayers, rollers, etc)
Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders, etc
Knowledge in setting up and using pneumatic spray guns
Experience in spraying oil based enamels
Must pass a respirator test and wear a respirator when painting which requires a clean-shaven face at all times
Skilled in operating a lift truck
High School Diploma, preferred but not required
Proven experience as a painter
Prolonged periods of standing on a concrete floor while working in the paint booth
Ability to work in an uncontrolled environmental setting where temperatures can be extremely cold, hot or humid depending on the outside temperature
Work in an environment where there are unexpected, sudden loud noises, beeping backup alarms, flashing lights and sudden movements
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times by lifting, pulling or pushing
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds by reaching above the shoulders
Use of respirator equipment while painting which requires a clean-shaven face at all times
