About the position

The Painter - Night position at Hazelwood School District involves performing various painting duties, including surface preparation, mixing paint, and applying coatings according to specifications. The role requires a conscientious approach to work, ensuring safety and quality in all tasks. The position operates during night hours from 2 PM to 10 PM and reports to the Director of Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily review and prioritizing of work orders and job assignments.
• Identify areas and items to be painted through visual inspection or work orders.
• Determine required tools and supplies for assigned projects and obtain them as necessary.
• Apply protective and decorative coatings appropriate to the surface and environment.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment using appropriate solvents and cleaning devices.
• Perform skilled painting tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade.
• Conduct all painting and related duties in a safe and conscientious manner.
• Sweep and clean up the area before and after painting.
• Assist other maintenance employees with repairs to buildings or equipment as time permits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three to five years of experience as a journeyman painter or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of painting and refinishing techniques and use of basic tools and equipment of the trade.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Skills in dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of units of measure.
