SCOPE: Perform duties to check and prepare units for paint and operate a spray gun or other equipment to apply a full range of industrial finishes on plastic, aluminum and steel surfaces while monitoring work to ensure desired results. 1. Work from specifications, shop orders and work instructions. Review material and product requirements. May prepare any preparation operations as required such as masking and hanging parts onto holding devices. Obtain specified paint or other coating material and appropriate spray gun. Check operation and make preliminary adjustments or repairs to paint gun. Receive bodies, cabs, doors or other components for primer, intermediate or final application of coating materials, check substrates and general condition. Activate paint according to supplier recommendation. Apply primers and multiple top coats in prescribed sequence. Set baker temperature and timer and bake according to manufacturer recommendations. Clean and maintain spray equipment after each use. Clean and maintain paint booth according to approved maintenance schedule. Visually check work and record production. Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems. Must be able to go to other paint facilities and perform job functions when called upon.
