The Painter position at IMIA, LLC involves assisting in various tasks related to surface preparation and the application of coatings in the marine industry. This role requires a willingness to learn and the ability to follow specific directions to ensure that painting tasks are completed safely and efficiently. The Painter will be responsible for preparing surfaces according to the specifications provided by paint manufacturers, mixing paint as directed, and applying coatings using approved methods. Additionally, the role includes striping tanks and ensuring that all tasks are performed in a productive and timely manner. The Painter must adhere to OSHA requirements relevant to the shipbuilding industry and comply with all company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations. This includes accurately operating, cleaning, and maintaining all assigned equipment, as well as properly storing and disposing of paint and solvent cans. Knowledge of checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness is essential, and the Painter will assist sprayers in pulling lines as needed. The position may require additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor to ensure the completion of jobs in a safe and timely manner. Physical demands of the job include regular walking, standing, and the ability to perform tasks at various heights and in confined spaces. The Painter must be capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and may be required to wear a respirator for certain tasks. The working conditions can be challenging, with exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and hazardous materials, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Overtime and travel are often required, making flexibility in scheduling important for this role.
