About The Position

The Painter position at JLG Industries involves the application of paint and coatings on various products, including those for government and military specifications. The role requires proficiency in using electrostatic and air assist paint guns, as well as other automotive paint application devices. The Painter will work primarily on the 2nd shift or weekend shifts, with a focus on ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of painting experience in automotive or heavy vehicle/equipment manufacturing, industrial, or automotive body shop.
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues with minimal direction.
• Familiarity with safety protocols, including the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, and respirators.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with electrostatic and air assist paint guns.
• Knowledge of military spec paint applications.

Responsibilities

• Prime, paint, and touchup vehicles using power spray equipment and brushes.
• Mask, unmask, or adjust masking as necessary to meet specifications.
• Sand, wash, and condition parts as necessary.
• Perform light bodywork as required.
• Disassemble, clean, repair, adjust, and reassemble painting equipment for proper operation.
• Flush tanks, hoses, and guns prior to color changeovers.
• Mix paints for proper color, formula, conditions, viscosity, and consistency.
• Perform titrations and mix or adjust chemicals as necessary in paint processes.
• Apply decals, stencils, and rust-proofing as required.
• Maintain the work area and equipment, including preventative maintenance tasks.
• Inspect products before, during, and after the paint process to ensure specifications are met.
• Transport, move, or guide parts and assemblies during the paint process.
