About The Position

The Paint Technician is responsible for the set-up and operation of the paint booth system. The employee must also monitor the process and quality of the product and make necessary corrections to the process to maintain a steady flow of quality products to the customer.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
  • Must attend, complete, and implement required in-house training.
  • Must pass Manchester Tank & Equipment's respirator certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate color changes per schedule.
  • Inspect cylinder for visual defects.
  • Inspect painted units for runs and unpainted areas.
  • Operate nozzle type electrostatic painting equipment to spray positively charged paint particles onto negatively charged cylinders.
  • Move switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment.
  • Turn valves and observe gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
  • Readjust pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
  • Clean paint from ceiling and walls of booth and from disks, nozzles, and hoses.
  • Hand spray parts to cover unpainted areas.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Operation of lifting devices as needed.
  • Look for opportunities to get involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
  • Follow all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
  • Shut down process if unsafe.
  • Follow proper machine shutdown procedures.
