Your Role at Baxter This is where my hands make life-sustaining products As a Paint Team Floater, you play a key role in keeping production running smoothly. You’ll step in wherever help is needed—covering absences, supporting busy areas, and ensuring paint operations stay on schedule. This role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and perform all paint department tasks with minimal supervision. You’ll be trained across the entire paint process, including paint rack burn-off operations and spray booth work. Your Team You’ll be part of a collaborative, fast‑paced paint operations team that works closely to meet daily production goals. In this role, you’ll interact regularly with paint technicians, utility operators, leads, and supervisors, as well as partner departments upstream and downstream in the production process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or (GED) General Education Degree (applies to anyone hired after 1997)
  • Must obtain and maintain a Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) license
  • Ability to operate walk-behind, sit-down, and stand-up forklifts safely
  • Ability to pass required medical evaluations
  • Burn-off operations require the ability to: Operate a pressure washer throughout the shift Add and shovel sand during burn-off and cleanup
  • Spray booth work requires: Lifting 40‑lb. bags of powder paint Upper body strength to safely operate spray guns during normal shifts
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and stay proficient at all paint department workstations
  • Rack and un-rack parts in 42P, follow production schedules, clock parts, and report shortages or issues
  • Guide paint racks through the system by operating trolley line gates
  • Keep paint racks moving smoothly through the “Q” (paint skating rink)
  • Recover and re-rack parts that fall or become dislodged
  • Pull racks into the wash system to support downstream production
  • Route racks to the correct spray booth and ensure the correct paint color is applied
  • Operate manual and automatic powder coating spray guns
  • Inspect painted parts, perform repairs, and determine disposition of damaged parts
  • Assist with un-racking and banding finished parts
  • Train and support new employees as needed
  • Communicate with supervisors and other departments to maintain workflow
  • Track production data and help identify and tackle problems
  • Troubleshoot equipment or quality issues and suggest improvements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety procedures
  • Support team problem‑solving activities and continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support department needs
  • Other duties may be assigned as production needs change.
