About The Position

The Paint Prep Technician role at Textron Aviation involves preparing aircraft surfaces for primer and finish paint application. The technician will learn and apply correct procedures for painting various aircraft parts and assemblies, ensuring high-quality finishes while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification.
• Preferred experience in paint preparation and/or aircraft spray painting or equivalent manufacturing spray painting experience.
• Team-oriented, self-driven, and safety conscious.
• Goal-oriented with a drive to meet and exceed quality expectations.
• Problem-solving skills and positive behavior.

Nice To Haves

• IQ certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assure surfaces of aircraft are smooth and prepared for primer and finish paint application.
• Perform surface preparation of aircraft prior to painting, including marking areas to be filled and applying hardener and filler.
• Visually check surfaces for discrepancies in paint to ensure conformity to specifications.
• Use conventional air and HVLP spray painting equipment, as well as hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Spray primer, paint filler, and protective paint on prepared surfaces.
• Prepare plastic, fiberglass, or composite parts of aircraft for paint adhesion.
• Perform minor rework, touchup, priming, and finish painting of partial aircraft when not engaged in paint preparation duties.
• Strip aircraft or aircraft parts using chemical paint removers.
• Rough and finish aircraft parts using various types of sandpaper and hand sanding machines.
• Work from oral and written instructions and established procedures and specifications.
• Maintain protective safety equipment in proper working order and follow general safety procedures.
