About The Position

The Paint Prep Tech position is a full-time role focused on preparing surfaces for painting by examining, grinding, and polishing workpieces to ensure they meet quality standards. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. The position operates on the 2nd shift, from 3:30 PM to 12 AM.

Requirements

• Less than high school education or up to one month of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects
• Selects abrasive wheel or disk according to specifications and attaches to grinder
• Starts grinder and moves it over surface of workpiece to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface
• Replaces worn abrasive disks and wheels
