About The Position

Under the supervision of the Paint Department Engineer, paint system maintenance personnel are responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all production and some facility equipment in support of manufacturing objectives. They will also perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree and certifications preferred.
  • Technician I, 3 years’ experience working in an industrial environment, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment required.
  • Technician II, 5+ years’ experience working in an industrial environment, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment required.
  • Formal electrical, electronic, and mechanical training and/or experience repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Meet typical expectations for safety, productivity, attendance, and quality of work.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Work well with and effectively communicate with others.
  • Have appropriate reading, clerical and computer skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of paint application systems (liquid and powder), as well as pre-treatment (shot blast, wash systems) preferred.
  • Proven history of self-motivation and able to work with little to no supervision.

Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and carry out preventive and predictive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment, ensuring system reliability and identifying potential issues before failure occurs.
  • Track inventory of spare parts and consumable equipment elements, and proactively identify needs, recommend adjustments, and coordinate procurement to support equipment uptime.
  • Read and interpret information from equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and written instructions to support troubleshooting, repair, and system optimization.
  • Use SAP and MS Office to locate parts and process work notifications, document work performed, analyze maintenance history, refer to standard work instructions, purchase parts, and communicate equipment status and technical findings.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system problems on all types of paint system equipment, including resolving more complex and escalated issues.
  • Diagnose and repair programmable logic controller (PLC) problems, including interacting with equipment HMI and remote interfaces, and viewing and modifying PLC programs as needed to restore and optimize system performance.
  • Apply and support “Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)” principles, including identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Wastewater System Operation: Operate, monitor, and support optimization of automated systems for wastewater treatment and wash-water control to ensure consistent and compliant operation.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace sensors and system components, safely handle chemicals, perform titrations, and support repairs to system plumbing.
  • Coordinate wastewater treatment activities, monitor system performance, and assist in maintaining compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
  • Paint Kitchen Operation: Operate and support powdered industrial equipment used to transport hazardous materials (paint, catalyst, solvents), ensuring safe and efficient material handling.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair liquid paint distribution systems including tanks, pumps, valves, filters, mixers, heaters, static mix tubes, piping, and hoses to ensure proper system function and material quality.
  • Identify and address system performance issues and support efforts to improve reliability and efficiency of paint delivery systems.
  • General Responsibilities: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in accordance with safety and operational standards.
  • Perform daily audits, validate system performance, and document critical parameters of paint system operation, identifying, and communicating abnormalities.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement events and team meetings, contributing technical input and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and process experts to troubleshoot issues, support repairs, and assist with system improvements.
  • Perform off-shift PMs on a predetermined schedule and provide technical support as needed to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Adhere to the requirements of company safety policies and industry standards including proper use of personal protective equipment, hazardous waste handling practices, and all safety rules, instructions, and procedures.
  • Follow all requirements of Hazardous Energy Control programs and applicable NEC, ANSI, CDRH, NFPA, OSHA, Federal, State, and Local regulations.
