About The Position

Detailer/Paint/Fiberglass II Reports to: Fiberglass Manager The Detailer/Paint/Fiberglass Technicians responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements. This position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day. Seasonal schedule changes may take place at management discretion. Requirements

  • Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid drivers license required
  • 2 years of experience in fiberglass repair and paint finish application (preferably marine, but not required)
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Ability to speak and read English in order to follow instructions on work orders as well as understand product and manual instructions
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job (see below)
  • Must be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Strong work ethic and personal commitment
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work comfortably around water
  • Ability to work in tight spaces
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet
  • Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, squat, twist, reach, grasp

Responsibilities

  • Assess condition of gel coat and recommend proper maintenance protocol
  • Polish and wax gel coats and various painted surfaces
  • Choose, mix, and apply epoxy to wood or FRP
  • Perform gel coat/paint cosmetic repairs
  • Possess knowledge of various fiberglass cloths and their applications and apply to work
  • Possess knowledge of proper operation of hand and hand-held air/electric tools and apply to work
  • Possess knowledge of bottom repairs and painting procedures and apply to work
  • Grind and layup simple laminations
  • Understand the proper uses of marine grade fairing materials and woods
  • Maintain finishes to industry standards
  • Follow all procedures pertaining to safety and personal protection equipment
  • Ensure quality of work performed
