Starting pay for Cleaning Rack Operator is $26.60/hr. Primary Job Functions — below is a general description of the essential functions of this job. Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to demonstrate job related knowledge of measuring devices such as rules.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of weight volume, and other units of measurements.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.
  • Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts, including overtime
  • Must be able to work any shift
  • Must take necessary steps to protect themselves from toxic fumes.
  • Must take necessary steps to protect themselves when working in a flammable environment.
  • Legally can work in US now & future without sponsorship (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior and exterior surface of the tank car for coating or lining by removing rust, weld, slag, scale, or other foreign contaminants by directing shot laden compressed air held blast nozzles.
  • Mixes coatings according to specifications and applies the coating to install or repair section of a coating using airless spray equipment. This may be to an exterior or interior tank car.
  • Cleans and maintains spraying equipment.
  • After a tank car is coated, they apply piping prior to starting the bake procedure.
  • They also turn on the blower for a specified period of time before introducing the temperature input.
  • Monitors the bake temperature per specification until the intermediate bake or final bake has been completed.
  • Maintains and stores a record of baking operations.
  • Applies decals as to tank car exterior cars.
  • Maintain area in a neat and orderly manner and report work hazards
