Job Summary: We are looking for a Blast and Paint Supervisor to ensure proper and consistent meeting of blast and paint requirements including but not limited to quality and efficiency and responsible for hourly employees, equipment, and materials.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.
  • Preferably 5+ years of rail car inspections, test, and repair experience.
  • Past supervisory/management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Railroad Administration’s regulations governing the inspection and test of rail cars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and lead hourly employees in all blast and paint activities.
  • Ensure safe working habits and safe working conditions by performing training for and periodic reviews of all blast and paint department employees and their work areas.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Department efforts by ensuring compliance with all OSHA, AAR, FRA, company and customer requirements regarding all quality, environmental, health and safety regulations at all times, including but not limited to maintaining training and compliance.
  • Make recommendations to the Repair Manager concerning the department with the intention of resulting in continual process improvements while maintaining established quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels of all required materials and equipment in work in conjunction with the Material Manager to ensure maintaining proper inventory control as well as waste due to excess inventory of equipment.
  • Participate in employee interviews, new hire orientation training and employee performance evaluations.
  • Participate in all internal, external and customer audits regarding the department.
  • Document and submit corrective discipline as needed.
  • Participate in daily Production Meetings providing the status of rail cars in process.
  • Direct subordinates’ daily activities and maintain their job cards.
