About The Position

The Paint & Body person is responsible for performing skilled body repair, painting, mechanical maintenance, and general repair duties on MetroLink vehicles, including buses, trucks, and service vehicles. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair collision damage, perform paint and glass work, and assist with mechanical diagnostics and repairs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring vehicle safety, reliability, and appearance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a high school automotive program or graduation from a recognized automotive/diesel mechanics or collision repair school preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of collision repair experience required.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot automotive and bus electrical systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard automotive body repair practices, tools, methods, and equipment.
  • Skilled in welding (MIG & TIG), fiberglass repair, and paint mixing/matching.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials required for repairs.
  • Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions in the trade.
  • Proficiency in using body repair tools with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals and follow written instructions.
  • Clear, legible writing and communication skills required.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement, or obtain one within the probational period. CDL class/training is onsite.
  • No moving violations within the past three (3) years and no DUI/DWI convictions.

Responsibilities

  • Must be safety-conscious at all times.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs damaged automobiles, buses, and trucks.
  • Straightens body panels and performs fiberglass repair.
  • Prepares vehicle surfaces for painting; mixes paint and applies it via spraying methods.
  • Uses body hammers, air hammers, body jacks, MIG & TIG welding equipment, and other repair tools.
  • Removes and replaces vehicle glass and windshields.
  • Estimates damage and repair needs; submits written repair reports.
  • Performs general mechanical maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.
  • Makes road calls using a service truck or bus to respond to breakdowns.
  • Fuels buses and other MTTA vehicles as required.
  • Ensures regular and timely attendance.
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts and adapt to schedule changes.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
