Augusta-based Alliance Spine and Pain Center is seeking a fellowship trained, board certified physician to join the elite interventional pain management practice in the Southeast. To learn more about Alliance Spine and Pain Centers, please visit our website at www.spinepains.com Job Summary The physician will perform complete histories and physicals on adult patients to establish and record the patient's current health status, to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan, and to provide continuing medical care. The role will provide primarily outpatient-based care with in-hospital call duties in some locations to patients with complex, acute and chronic health conditions. The physician will practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic painful conditions.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from U.S. approved institution and completed accredited residency program in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation or Anesthesia.
  • Valid Medical License in Georgia and Federal DEA license.
  • ABMS Board Certification or Eligibility in PM&R/ Anesthesia and Pain Medicine required.
  • Excellent skills in all common interventional pain management procedures required without limitations to perform them safely.
  • Current ACLS and BLS license required.
  • Must be credentialed per facility policies and procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with providers, coworkers, reps and patients.
  • Ability to effectively give and receive information from patients, providers and other clinic employees.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Prior experience with EMR required, working knowledge of ECW preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • PC proficiency and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations, initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and established clinic patients to start a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Performs and interprets laboratory, radiological, and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes.
  • Performs common interventional procedures such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, facet injections, radiofrequency ablations, joint injections and spinal cord stimulation in the office and ambulatory surgery center with appropriate image guidance.
  • Oversees the care of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and provides guidance to all other ancillary health professionals.
  • Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
  • Manages chronic medication management patients while following all State and Federal Compliance Guidelines.
  • Assists with record keeping, completes appropriate patient medical chart documentation, and transcribes lab data and routine correspondence.
  • Refers patients to other physicians as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
  • Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care.
