The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner is a nurse practitioner specializing in the field of pain management. The Pain Management Nurse practitioner shall focus on providing care and service to patients with chronic or acute pain; such service includes but is not limited to spinal injections, spinal cord stimulation, trigger point injections, and medication. The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with primary care healthcare professionals to provide non-discriminatory and high-quality care to culturally sensitive and underserved populations. The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner must be skilled and trained in Pain Management techniques and treatment and must also demonstrate strong administrative, clinical and interpersonal skills. Work hours for the position is Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch scheduled from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

  • Diagnose and develop treatment care plans for patients suffering from chronic or acute pain conditions
  • Perform physical exam, review medical histories and order appropriate diagnostic testing to accurately develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medication and treatment regimens as appropriate to the assessed medical condition
  • Ensure patient regulatory compliance to controlled substances for pain
  • Keep accurate patient medical records; completing all necessary documentation to allow for timely and efficient billing and claim submittal
  • Collaborate with other healthcare practitioners to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Collaborate with the Health Center in the evolution and refinement of quality improvement process, enhancing operational effectiveness with an emphasis on high quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with the Health Center to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and healthcare program requirements.
  • Stay current with the latest advancement in pain management treatment and techniques.
  • Regularly meet the productivity expectation of an average of 20 patients per day after a training period.
  • A master's degree program in Nurse Practitioner or related from an accredited institution.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification through a recognized body, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).
  • A Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
  • A National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number
  • A Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate
  • One year of experience in Pain Management
  • Ability to initiate preventative discussion pertaining to Pain Management.
  • Able to perform Trigger Point Injections (TPI), Joint & Bursa Injections, Occipital Nerve Blocks, Suprascapular and Botox (Migraine) Injections
  • Ability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to provide empathetic and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
  • Proficiency in conducting physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, and performing medical procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and treat patients effectively.
  • Efficient time management skills to handle a busy and varied caseload.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address complex patient needs and healthcare challenges.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and ethical standards.
