About The Position

The Professional Athletes Foundation (PAF) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manager to support day-to-day operations, with a primary focus on administering player assistance grant programs. This role requires a highly organized professional who can manage sensitive information with discretion, coordinate grant processes efficiently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while supporting the needs of current and former players. About the PAF: The PAF was founded in 1990 by then NFLPA Executive Director and legendary guard Gene Upshaw, who recognized the unique challenges to former players in their journey off the field. Still today, we work to support, strengthen and inspire players as they navigate life’s many challenges and moments to celebrate. PAF is the leading foundation assisting former NFL players. We’ve supported more than 3,600 players through the Gene Upshaw Players Assistance Trust Fund (GU PAT), with over $21 million in financial, medical, and educational assistance granted to our community. This role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that demands responsiveness, flexibility, and a high level of professionalism. The PAF Manager must be able to work independently, when necessary, while also being an integral part of the PAF team. The Manager must also be comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the player assistance grant process, including application intake, review coordination, and status tracking.
  • Serve as a liaison and support to player applicants regarding the application process, or other PAF resources as available.
  • Assist with processing and tracking payments using Bill.com, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all player assistance cases and financial transactions through the CRM system and the bill payment system.
  • Handle highly sensitive player information with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Connect former players to external resources within the player care community, or those external resource providers as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries from players and their representatives with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Monitor and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency within grant and payment processes.
  • Support reporting and documentation for leadership, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with Professional Athletes Foundation policies and goals as they fit within the NFLPA’s mission and vision.
