About The Position
The PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse position at Gallup Indian Medical Center involves providing intensive nursing and post-anesthesia care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. The nurse will rotate between pre-op counseling, the pre-surgery room, recovery room, and local procedures room, performing critical nursing duties for patients requiring specialized care. Responsibilities include conducting observation and assessment post-anesthesia, collaborating with surgeons and the anesthesia team, monitoring patients for adverse signs, and managing patients throughout all recovery phases. The role requires administering medications, IV fluids, and other therapeutic treatments as prescribed, while also documenting nursing interventions and patient data in the recovery room. The nurse will implement, evaluate, and revise nursing plans of care using AORN standards of care.
