About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at Kaiser Permanente in Tacoma, WA, involves providing nursing care to a defined group of patients on an on-call basis. Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Registered Nurse License (Washington) or Compact License required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.

  • Primary nursing or case-management experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing assessment of nursing care needs for a defined group of patients.
  • Develop a written plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and patient needs.
  • Assist patients and families in developing healthcare goals as part of the individualized care plan.
  • Determine priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
  • Provide nursing interventions safely and competently.
  • Offer telephone consultation to patients and families as needed.
  • Evaluate patients' responses to care and modify care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the physiological and psychological effects of aging in care planning.
  • Communicate effectively with patients of various age populations.
  • Identify personal learning needs and participate in relevant educational programs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members in planning and implementing care.
  • Initiate nursing admission database and discharge planning for patients requiring hospitalization.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to accomplish workload.
  • Recognize and address patients' psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs during interactions.
  • Orient patients and families to nursing roles and available services.
  • Develop educational components for nursing care plans and provide teaching/counseling to patients and families.
  • Encourage patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens.
  • Assess patient lifestyle risk factors and integrate health promotion into care.
  • Implement preventive measures for physical and psychological health.
  • Adhere to documentation, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Participate in staff orientation and student education activities.
  • Engage in quality assurance activities and nursing research.
  • Maintain high professional work standards and appearance.
