About The Position

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in the PreOp and PACU department.Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members.May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
  • Active RN license in PA
  • BLS and ACLS Required
  • PALS preferred upon hire and required within one year of hiring
  • One year experience preferred in a perioperative setting.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written

Nice To Haves

  • PALS preferred upon hire and required within one year of hiring
  • One year experience preferred in a perioperative setting.
