About The Position

Position Purpose At Saint Mary's Hospital, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU delivers high-acuity post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Operating Room. What You Will Do Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries. Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Valid RN license in Connecticut
  • The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with two or more years of Emergency Room or ICU experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills. Note: Training is not available for candidates without this expertise
  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines
