About The Position

PACT Counselors split their time by working closely with younger students, and also focusing on their own development to help them build leadership abilities and prepare for future job opportunities. The PACT Summer Counselor hours of operation: Monday - Friday 9:00AM EST to 5:00PM EST This role will start on Tuesday the 26th of May and will run approximately until Monday the 3rd of August. In this role, mornings are focused on creating a space where everyone feels safe, supported, and ready to participate. This means showing up with a positive attitude, actively connecting with campers, and setting the example through behavior. PACT Counselors demonstrate professionalism, respect, and responsibility while helping ensure that every participant feels both physically safe and emotionally supported throughout the day. During afternoons, the PACT Counselor will take part in College and Career Exploration activities and events focused around future education opportunities and career pathways. Throughout the program, PACT Counselors will also receive weekly one-on-one mentorship, with dedicated time to ask questions, set goals, and receive guidance to support personal growth and professional development.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in high school or graduating from high school
  • Passionate and excited about taking part in the community and working with kids
  • Comfortable engaging in activities with children and peers
  • Comfortable with reading and implementing a lesson plan.

Responsibilities

  • Infuse activities with energy and enthusiasm, motivating campers to actively participate and immerse themselves in the camp experience
  • Works collaboratively with all JBNC staff and community partners regarding enrichment opportunities
  • Identifies, plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum and daily activities throughout the summer
  • Motivates and engages youth enrolled in the program through positive behavior management systems
  • Utilize Social and Emotional Learning skills when engaging with the campers
  • Communicate with camp director, parents, and other community partners as needed
  • Participate daily in the College and Career Exploration activities and events for the PACT counselors.
  • Receive weekly one-on-one mentorship
