About The Position

The PACS Administrator, under the direction of the Information Systems Director, is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This role involves ensuring the storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical images across the healthcare facility. The PACS Administrator will work closely with radiologists, clinicians, and IT staff to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and implement system upgrades. Additionally, the administrator will develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain data security, system integrity, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The PACS Administrator will also oversee the integration of PACS with other hospital information systems, such as HIS and EMR, ensuring seamless interoperability. The role requires a deep understanding of interface protocols like HL7 and DICOM, as well as experience with network configuration, data encryption, and firewall management. The PACS Administrator will be instrumental in leading projects related to system installations, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning, all while maintaining detailed documentation and fostering positive vendor relationships. The PACS Administrator manages the day-to-day operations of the Image Archive Communication Systems (PACS), ensuring that medical images are properly stored, retrieved, and transmitted. Responsibilities include creating login pathways for new reading physicians and radiology employees, providing technical assistance and training to healthcare professionals, and identifying and resolving hardware, software, and network problems associated with PACS. The administrator will respond to emergent requests for login/password issues, develop and implement policies for monitoring system security, and run daily PACS logs. They will also lead activities related to the installation and testing of new systems and applications, maintain the system as a liaison between PACS and Delta Health, and regularly update PACS software to ensure compatibility and security. The role requires overseeing the hospital's use of PACS, reporting any misuse, and performing daily maintenance as needed. The PACS Administrator will also be responsible for special projects or additional duties assigned by the director, actively participate in project implementations, and monitor the Help Desk System for ongoing support requests.
