Shift: 1st and 2nd available Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D, PSL Position Overview The Packing Technician is an entry-level maintenance role responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving packaging equipment in an automated food processing facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring employee safety, food quality, and equipment efficiency through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Industrial maintenance program graduate or 1–2 years of experience as a packaging operator with basic maintenance knowledge
  • Ability to learn and operate various packaging equipment
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong attention to safety and adherence to company safety policies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role
  • Ability to work in a range of temperatures, including warm, hot, cold, and freezing conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently and safely

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up Daumar, Giro, or similar packaging machines, ensuring safe and efficient operation
  • Perform routine inspections, lubrication, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on packaging equipment
  • Conduct equipment start-up, shutdown, cleaning, and calibration procedures to maintain accuracy and performance
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist in identifying root causes and implementing solutions
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to improve machine reliability and efficiency
  • Coach and support Machine Attendants and Operators as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, organized manner
  • Participate in safety and food safety initiatives, including GMP audits, sanitation checks, and behavioral observations
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and productivity
  • Work in varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, or refrigerated environments)
  • Follow verbal and written instructions from management
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs
