About The Position

Packing & Shipping Specialists are responsible for carefully wrapping and packaging outgoing products to prevent damage to the manufactured product during storage and transportation. Specialists are responsible for selecting appropriate packaging materials to protect product integrity and for optimizing the size and weight of the shipped item(s) in consideration of the transportation method, applicable export regulations, and customer and carrier requirements.

Packages products to protect from damage during transportation and storage; examines shipments to ensure they meet customer requirements and comply with carrier requirements, export regulations and customs documentation & compliance. Ensures shipping documents are accurate and complete, and that all packages are adequately labeled.
Verifies accuracy of orders and maintains accurate records of shipments; compares identifying information and counts, weighs, and measures items to verify against bills of lading, customer orders, or other records
May receive, unwrap, inspect, and store incoming materials; responsible for accurately recording counts, weights, condition, and storage locations for received items
Utilizes forklift, pallet jacks, dolly, and other material handling equipment to transport materials; may operate overhead or jib crane; may use forklift to load and/or unload goods on trucks (Forklift certification upon employment is required)
Completes appropriate paperwork in compliance with internal processes and quality procedures
Maintains a clean and organized, safe work area
Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriate
Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product
Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions
Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
May be required to drive company vehicles for receiving and/or delivering parts; expected to obey all city, state, and federal traffic and transport regulations
Performs other duties as assigned
Regular attendance on-site at the work site is required

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a warehouse role performing stocking, order picking, and/or packaging is required
• Forklift experience with satisfactory record of safe operation is preferred
• Experience with export compliance and hazardous materials shipping is preferred
• Ability to read and accurately interpret a pick ticket and verify counts with 100% accuracy
• Attention to detail and demonstration of accurate counting, measurement, and associated recordkeeping
• Ability to accurately read and record measurements within a 1/4 inch increment
• Professional written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Consistently legible handwriting (English)
• Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, stand for long periods to perform job duties
• Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
• Frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
• Accurately distinguish colors, letters, and numbers
• Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices
• Use hands and fingers to manually inspect and assess, lift, rotate, and wrap or otherwise package parts
• Visual ability to gauge distances, recognize and avoid obstacles to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment

Nice To Haves

• Forklift experience with satisfactory record of safe operation is preferred
• Experience with export compliance and hazardous materials shipping is preferred
