Our Packing Department Manager is responsible for the supervision, packing, and shipment of wet and/or dry prepared foods to all stores. This role will oversee a team of packers covering all three shifts. Consistency, efficiency and effective communication are key responsibilities that will allow you to succeed. By collaborating with the Executive Chef and overall kitchen team, you ensure all prepared foods packaging meet Citarella s high quality standards.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and use of good judgement in stressful situations
  • Ability to supervise a diverse workforce
  • Ability to train current and new employees in department standards and product knowledge
  • Full understanding of food safety practices (quality control, rotation, etc.)
  • Maintain consistent dating of food items and ingredients.
  • Ability to physically perform requirements of position such as: standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling items weighing 20-75 pounds for extended periods of time.
  • The position requires manual dexterity, visual skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate using the English language enough to performs job functions, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required.
  • Ability to work within a temperature-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide all packing associates, overseeing scheduling, quality, productivity, and workflow
  • Effectively communicate with leadership on department goals (daily and weekly) and end of shift reporting
  • Ensure all employees are working within the guidelines of the standard operating procedures
  • Maintain awareness of all orders and how they need to be prepared
  • Spot check expiration dates, weights and labels on containers
  • Periodically check all product that is cooling
  • Oversee and train the pulling of soup orders, sandwich orders and wet pack orders
  • Maintain inventory of all supplies (labels etc.) without overstock
  • Maintain proper documentation (productivity/quality sheets/logbook)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by ensuring entire area is cleaned throughout shifts
  • In addition, other duties maybe required as directed by your team lead, supervisor, and/or manager
