Job Description: Reports to: Shift Supervisor Primary function: To pack product according to the direction of the lead packer and customer specifications. Process is to prepare orders to be shipped. Duties: Select items to be packed per packing list and instructions from Lead Packer Follow written and verbal instructions Apply labels and clips; and insert product in tubes and pouches Certify to measure, weigh and count product and material Assemble and tape boxes Label packages Examine and inspect packaging materials and products; notify lead packer of any quality issues Identify defective products or material Document defects on proper form and move defective parts to the specified area in the warehouse Record product weight Demonstrate ability to consistently assemble and pack products to quality standards Works independently or as part of a team Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor Education requirements: High School diploma or equivalency preferred, but does not disqualify Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of packaging procedures, ability to identify packing materials and products by description and scale measurements, use scale and adding machine to record and total weights. Essential Job Functions: Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds Engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time Use of small and large motor skills throughout entire shift Must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks Ability to understand and follow appropriate safety procedures Requires attention to detail, concentration, high degree of accuracy, reliable attendance, timeliness, alertness, and use of judgement The duties listed in the job descriptions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
