About The Position

This position is for a Packer on a 12-hour D Shift at Altium Packaging in Sparta, Tennessee. The role is responsible for the entire packing process, from assembling boxes and aligning them on the packing machine to inspecting, labeling, sealing, and stacking finished product on skids for shipment. The job requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Requirements

  • Must be capable of selecting appropriate size boxes for running product, and assemble boxes with provided tape gun.
  • Ability to properly align 6-9 assembled boxes at the machine, without blocking aisles or exits.
  • Proper use of PPE is required at all times.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move around the production floor.
  • Ability to communicate with subordinates (team members).
  • Ability to position self to ground level as needed.
  • Ability to stand on feet for 8-11.5 hours per day, minimum of 5 days per week.
  • Ability to move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and operate any machinery, tools or equipment used.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • Select appropriate size boxes for running product, and assemble boxes with provided tape gun.
  • Properly align 6-9 assembled boxes at the machine, without blocking aisles or exits.
  • Establish if order requires caps or not.
  • If order requires caps, fold liner over bottles and insert caps at the top of filled box of product.
  • If no caps required to ship order, insert liner into box so liner can be folded over bottles prior to sealing.
  • Place boxes on a conveyor.
  • Random sample product at the end of conveyor to check for visible defects.
  • Report any defect found immediately to your supervisor.
  • Fold liner over product to avoid contamination after inspection.
  • Retrieve label from label machinery and place on completed box with proper placement and fitting.
  • Place labeled boxes on cooling skids for approximately 60 minutes before stacking on finish skid.
  • Seal box with tape gun and stack on to finished skid, ensuring labels are visible and following specific stacking requirements.
