As the technical subject matter expert (SME) for all Inspection lines, the Injectable Inspection Packaging Tech 5 plays a critical role in ensuring reliable and efficient operations. This position leads Operator Care activities, manages changeovers on automated and semi-automated lines, and provides hands-on technical expertise across inspection processes. The Packaging Tech 5 also supports special projects, assisting engineering and maintenance with troubleshooting, validation, preventive maintenance, and other key initiatives. In addition to running lines, this role requires a thorough understanding of Line Coordinator and Material Handler duties. If qualified, the Packaging Tech 5 may also perform inspector/operator responsibilities. As a Packaging Tech 5, you will help drive operational excellence across all Injectable Inspection lines. You will take ownership of Operator Care activities, oversee startups and changeovers, and serve as a mentor and trainer for Packaging Techs, Line Coordinators, and Operators/Inspectors. This position requires strong leader behaviors and a commitment to safety, quality, and accountability while developing the skills and confidence of colleagues. You will be directly involved in troubleshooting, minor repairs, and process adjustments to sustain equipment performance. Working closely with maintenance, engineering, and production leaders, you will support continuous improvement efforts, new equipment upgrades, and system enhancements. By combining technical knowledge with leadership and coaching, you will help maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.

  • Lead Operator Care activities, monitoring line performance, identifying issues, and driving corrective actions to maintain reliability.
  • Oversee and execute line startups, changeovers, and clearances to ensure efficient product transitions.
  • Train and mentor Packaging Techs, Line Coordinators, and Operators/Inspectors to build capability and support professional growth.
  • Model and reinforce strong leader behaviors while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and adjust equipment or processes to maximize efficiency and maintain product quality.
  • Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately complete batch records, WPM documentation, and SAP entries.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to complete repairs and develop mechanical improvements.
  • Support Operations Specialists, Production Leads, and Engineers/Plant Professionals with validation, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, support teams, and leadership to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines, SOPs, and FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years of related experience and training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic math, including percentages, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot automated equipment and processes
  • Physical ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting, twisting, and extended periods of standing
  • Comfort working near moving mechanical parts; eye protection required; lighting may be reduced for inspection activities
  • Strong math and reading skills are essential for understanding SOPs, GMPs, and Batch Records.
  • Success in this role requires teamwork, adaptability, productivity under demanding conditions, and comfort with evolving responsibilities.
  • The Packaging Tech 5 must be self-motivated, capable of independently managing daily tasks to meet production schedules and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment
